First Quarter 2003 Groundwater Monitoring/Remediation Status Report
! [ Moore Petroleum Bulk Plant,5491 F Street,Banta,California
ffrrrr Page 5
Modifications from Standard Monitoring Program:
None
REMEDIATION SYSTEM SUMMARY' -
1 Soil Vapor Extraction System
System description:
Gasoline vapors are extracted .from the subsurface through three monitonng/vapor wells (VEW-
3/MW-8, MW-1, and VEW-4/MW-7) and two vapor extraction wells (VEW-1 and VEW-2). The '
wells are manifolded together with PVC piping in the remediation compound before connecting
t to the extraction system (Figure 2). The vapor extraction system is a King Buck®, 100 cfm,
catalytic oxidizer model No. MMC-5A, utilizing a positive-displacement blower as a vacuum
' k
source.
System startup date: June 17, 2002
Current system mode: Catalytic operation since startup. r
Active extraction wells: VEW-1 through-VEW-4
i
Inactive extraction wells/reason: MW-1
. a
Status of system operation during reporting period/reasons for downtime:
During this reporting period, from December 27, 2002, to-March 25, 2003, the SVE system did
not operate, continuously. According to hour meter readings and held data reported by Apex
personnel the system operated a total of 58.5 days. On January 8, Apex shut the SVE system off
for a quarterly monitoring event and restarted the system on January.10, 2003. Also, the SVE
system was found shut down upon arrival on January 24, and February 10 due to water
4
accumulation in-the knockout drum. The system vacuum was lowered to reduce the amount of
'r water being pulled from the subsurface.
Table `5 summarizes extraction and. emission data from sampling events that are normally
performed at. the beginning of each month. The flow rates and analytical data.are used to
calculate approximate pounds -of hydrocarbons extracted and averaged between the sampling
events to form the following results.
System performance totals:
Pounds of TPH removed: 1,676 pounds (266 gallons) this.quarter/ l
3,912 pounds (621 gallons) total
Pounds of benzene removed: 0.2 pounds this quarter/1-.4'pounds'total
