`./ k'q KLEINEELDER
additionally analyzed for soluble lead using distilled water extraction. The concentration of
'-' soluble lead from the discrete soil samples ranged from none detected to 0.2 milligrams/liter
(mg/1). For details refer the chain-of-custody form and analytical results in Attachment B.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The following conclusions and recommendations are based upon analytical results, observations
and Kleinfelder's findings:
+... • TPH-G, BTEX and five fuel oxygenates were not detected in four discrete soil samples
collected in the approximate 2' by 17' by 12' deep trench area traversing the former UST
area. Kleinfelder does not recommend further evaluation of TPH-G, BTEX or oxygenates in
16. soil in the UST area.
• TPH-D was detected in the trench area at concentrations ranging from none detected to 240
'-' mg/kg. The highest concentration of 240 mg/kg was detected at a depth of approximately 5
feet and at about the interface between the tank backfill and the native material. TPH-D
was detected at 61 mg/kg from a bottom sample collected at a depth of approximately 12 feet
located below the tank backfill. Therefore, the concentration of TPH-D contamination within
the trench area diminished with increasing depth.
• Based upon observations and analytical results some residual diesel affected soil remains
near the UST backfill area. The concentrations reported however, would not generally
trigger requirements for additional investigation or cleanup from local and state agencies.
• The highest total lead concentration of 140 mg/kg was detected in the discrete trench bottom
L. sample collected at approximately 12 feet bgs. Soluble lead was detected at 0.2 mg/1 from
this same sample. The upper limit of the range of concentrations for total lead detected did
not exceed the Total Threshold Limit Concentration (TTLC) Regulated Level for
4.0 classification of lead as a hazardous waste (1,000 mg/kg) per California Code of Regulations
22CCR §66261.24. Additionally the detected soluble concentrations of lead were not greater
than the Soluble Threshold Limit Concentration (STLC) Regulated Level for lead (5mg/1) as
.. expressed in 22CCR §66261.24. Kleinfelder does not recommend further evaluation of lead
in soil.
+- • Confirmation soil samples were collected from the trench excavated through the middle of
the UST excavation. Therefore, confirmation samples to assess the extent of diesel-affected
soils were unable to be collected by Kleinfelder in each direction around the perimeter of the
+ former UST excavation.
A copy of this report should be forwarded to San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Department Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) for their review and comment.
20-4659-OLEO[/2011R1442 Page 4 of 6
®2001,Kleinfelder, Inc.
