L Blatt Commercial Brokers e
9 4
April 30, 1990
L202/899-7041
LGROUNDWATER MONITORING
Groundwater was monitored to determine the static groundwater level. The groundwater level was
L measured using an interface probe, consisting of a dual optical sensor and electrical conductivity probe.
The static groundwater depth measured at the site on April 23, 1990 was 10.27 feet below ground surface.
GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
LOn April 20, 1990, following the drilling operation,on, the well was developed using hand bailing
methods to remove fine particulates and to accelerate proper settling of the sand pack. Groundwater
collected during well development was stored on site in DOT-approved containers for later disposal by
LBlatt Commercial Brokerage.
On April 23, 1990, approximately nine gallons of water was purged from the well. Following
Lpurging, a groundwater sample was collected with an EPA-approved TeflonR sampler and placed in a 500
milliliter(ml) plastic bottle. Nitric acid (HNOwas added to the water sample to lower the pH of the water
Lbelow 2. The 500-ml plastic bottle was then capped, labeled, preserved on ice, and delivered with the
appropriate Chain-of-Custody manifest to GTEL for subsequent analysis. The groundwater sample from
the well was analyzed for total copper and total lead using methods from the EPA 6010/7000 Series.
SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
Soils encountered beneath the site consist of brown, stiff clay with minor silt as shown on the drill
log in Appendix II. Initial depth to groundwater encountered in SBA (MW-1) during the drilling operation
was 12 feet below ground surface. The static groundwater level measured in MWA on April 23, 1990 was
L10.27 feet below ground surface.
LRESULTS OF CHEMICAL ANALYSES
SOIL
L
Three soil samples were submitted to the laboratory for analysis of copper and lead. Table 1 lists
the soil samples submitted for chemical analysis, the depths at which they were collected, and their
L corresponding copper and lead concentrations in parts per million (ppm).
❑®GROUNDWATER
❑❑❑ TECHNOLOGY,INC.
L
