I' s WORKPLAN FOR kITIONAL INVESTIGATION,DISCO PROPERTY
AUGUST 1998
I
Workplan for Additional Investigation at Disco Property,
Stockton, CA
I
Introduction
This workplan describes additional investigation activities to be undertaken at the Disco Property
located at 110 North Filbert Street in Stockton,CA. The purpose of this workplan is to obtain
additional lithologic data in the area of highest observed concentrations of petroleum constituents.
The scope of work described in this workplan was developed and agreed upon at a July 10, 1998
meeting between representatives of the San Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental
Health Division (PHS/EHD) and Del Monte Foods,Inc. the current property owner.
Background I
--- In February 1995^an-air sparging/soil vapor extraction system(AS/SVE)`system was installed and
operated at the Disco Property to reduce concentrations of gasoline constituents in the apparent core
of the plume. The system consists of two sets of AS/SVE wells and two sets of nested piezometers
1 and operated until November 1995, when rising groundwater levels submerged the SVE wells. An
estimated 8,787 pounds of TPH-gasoline was removed during the system operation, however elevated
concentration of gasoline constituents are still present in groundwater samples from this area.
I
I
Scope of Work
j Five cone penetrometer(CPT) logs will be obtained to depths of 150 feet or greater in the
approximate locations shown on Figure 1. Specific activities include:
f
• Prior to undertaking field work, utilities will be cleared and necessary permits obtained
• A Health and Safety Plan which satisfies the requirements of 29 CFR 1910 will be prepared and
implemented.
' • CPT logging will include measurements of cone bearing, sleeve friction, dynamic pore water
pressure, and bulk resistivity.
• If refusal is met during CPT logging prior to attaining the target depth, make up to two more
attempts, relocating a short distance from the original location.
• The location of each CPT exploratory hole will be documented by measuring the distance from
two permanent structures or other suitably accurate methods. _r
• Exploratory holes will be properly abandoned using a bentonite slurry or cement bentonite grout
—*n=---_ - _—'-emplaced-through--a tremmie pipe:..
• A brief report will be prepared which describes the methods and results of the investigation
including CPT data reduction and interpretation.
DISCO WORKPLAN V.3.DOC 1 OF 1 1
