FILBERT STREET
STOCKTON, CA
Public Health Services Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD)
has reviewed both volumes of the "Remedial
Investigation/Feasibility Study" and the "Underground Pipe
Removal and Investigation Results" submitted by your Consultants,
CH2MHILL, and would like to convey the following comments:
1) The remedial investigation portion of the
submittal has recapped the historical
remedial activities at the time of the tank
removal, established the current soil
contamination conditions near the old tank
pit area, and determined the groundwater
impact to be substantial.
2) In terms of the feasibility study part of the
submittal, CH2MHILL has offered a multimodal
approach, in which PHS/EHD is optimistically
awaiting evaluation of the "phase one"
interim remedial plan.
3) PHS/EHD' s only significant concern with
respect to the underground pipe removal is
the one lead level reported as 74 mg/kg
(ppm) . If the original sample is still
available at the lab, it should be further
analyzed to determine the soluble portion
(waste extraction test using deionized
water) ; or reanalyzed to confirm or rebuke
the first reported value; or re-sample that
portion of the stockpiled soil from which the
original sample came; or that portion of the
stockpile could be appropriately handled and
hauled away as hazardous waste.
A Division of San imquin county Health Care 5emees
