MEETING MINUTES
FEBRUARY 11,1998
Disco PROPERTY
The SJCEHD's closure requirements were discussed. Ron had expressed concern about
benzene concentrations of 6.8 to 1.4 ug/l that had been measured in MW-7D in 1991, 1992,
and 1994. Liz indicated that benzene had been non-detect in that well since July 1994 and
asked if there was a target concentration and time period that needed to be met. Ron said
SJCEHD has closed sites with as much as 200 ug/l of benzene in groundwater.
Steve emphasized that Del Monte did not cause the petroleum release but was trying in
good faith to work with the SJCEHD.He and Richard Fish expressed concern about the cost
of this site to Del Monte ($700,000 to date)and encouraged the SJCEHD to be forthcoming
about the amount and level of detail they need in order to be satisfied that characterization
and remediation is proceeding in a manner that is efficient and that will satisfy their
requirements.
_ After,a short break, the representatives for Del Monte-and Parmaceast concluded that as a-
next step they would proceed with the receptor survey described by Ron. This will involve
updating the survey contained in the 1992 RI report(attached).A more detailed description
of this activity will be developed by Liz for review by others. Ron and Liz discussed the
schedule for this activity and agreed that obtaining data from water purveyors may take the
longest amount of time. Ron said SJCEHS would help where they could in acquiring data.
r
r
l
i
PAGE 3OF3
