Box 193576
San Francisco, CA 94119-3575
Re: Parmaceast Site•, 110 N. Filbert Street, Stockton, CA
Dear Bill, dear Susan:
1] I am writing to both of you as you have both been participants in various prior discussions with me
about our concerns over the way the remediation of this site has been approached. Furthermore, you
have also been the architects of an approach under which our client would, essentially, permit Del
Monte to control the interactions with the County and direct the implementation of a remedial
program. Finally, we have been trying to finalize a settlement between your company and our client.
i Recent developments have seriously complicated this process.
!+ Oxygenates in the Monitoring Wells
The groundwater monitoring of the site recently included sampling for oxygenates. Some of the
wells have oxygenates in them. This information was revealed in the recently released lab reports on
the sampling. (Prior summaries of the sampling indicated that oxygenates were"non-detect' in the
round.) We are uncertain whether the County is aware of and has reacted to this issue. This
sampling ro ty
r
P
g )
discovery has significant liability implications. Our client did not handle oxygenated fuels and did
not contribute to their presence on the site
i
s
602800.1 _
