Additionally, these reports often
lack conclusions and recommendations by a registered professional (see Quarterly
Monitoring Results Report dated February 1999 submitted by CH2M HILL).
Groundwater elevation measurements were not recorded for Piezometers NP-1-70', 807
,
or 90' during the February 11, 1999 monitoring event and measurements from MW-DIS-
7D and 8D "were not used to interpret the groundwater gradient because those wells
1 are screened in different straiigraphic intervals from the shallow wells" according to the
unsigned CI-12M HILL report. All reports with hydrogeologic conclusions and
recommendations must be signed and-stamped by=an appropriately registered professional ,--_- --
(examples;RG, CEG, CHG,PE). During all future groundwater monitoring and sampling
+ events potentiometric heads must be recorded, evaluated, and reported in all wells
li containing groundwater. At a minimum, the February 1999 report submitted by C112M
HILL must be amended with recommendations and conclusions including a signature
from a registered professional. The report amendment must be submitted to
PFIS/EHD by July 30, 1999 5:00pm.
Fuel additives/blending agents/oxygenates have been confirmed in the subsurface
environment at this site as tertiary butanol (TBA, from Nested Piezometers and Soil
Vapor Extraction Wells on different occasions and different depths). In correspondence
dated June 16, 1999 you requested the elimination of oxygenate testing (EPA Method
8260). EPA Method 8020 cannot identify or quantify TBA.
