® Del Monte Foods —Research Center J 1
205 North Wiget Lane
 I Walnut Creek, CA 94598-2458 I
Telephone: (925) 944-7300
FAX: (925) 942-0940 `
I
December 17, 2001
Mr. David Zuber, R.G.
Senior Geologist
Brown and Caldwell
2701 Prospect Park Drive
Rancho Cordova, CA 95670
Dear Mr. Zuber:
Re: Del Monte Foods Request for Proposal—
Stockton, CA Site Assessment and Remediation Work
Del Monte Foods recently closed operations at Plant#33 in Stockton, CA and relocated the
essential operating equipment to our facility in Modesto, CA. The company intends to sell or
lease the facilities and property remaining in Stockton. To prepare for these transactions, Del
Monte desires to assess and close any environmental issues.
Brown and Caldwell is invited to submit a proposal to provide environmental services at the
Del Monte Foods' Stockton#33, CA site. This request includes an overall Phase I
Environmental Site Assessment of the property, updating the Asbestos Survey for the facility,
and remediating a known groundwater issue due to a leaking gasoline underground storage
tank. The groundwater issue is the major work effort. The selected consultant will need to
develop a Corrective Action Plan and provide for remediation of a gasoline plume on a portion
of the Stockton#33 property known as the Disco site. At this point, the extent of the plume has
been characterized, and monitoring wells have been established.
To assist in preparation of the proposal, documents have been included in the attachments,
which outline the Scope of Services for each aspect of the request. Documentation and reports
have also been included to provide background information about the site and previous
investigations. After reviewing these documents, if questions arise, please contact the
following Del Monte staff to discuss clarifications, arrange for a site visit, or discuss the prior
work at the site.
Clarification of the RFP Steve Erickson (925) 944-7203
Site Visit Arrangements Kelly Lynch (925) 944-7275
Historical Data or Work Rich Fish (925) 944-7276
