RON
Ms. Carol Oz
Page 2
March 17, 1992
SF031604.RP
sample ES-1 was 74.8 mg/kg; however, lead results for the
other soil samples were between 5.96 mg/kg and 12.3 mg/kg and
none of the five samples collected from the bottom of
excavation trenches contained lead in excess of 10 mf/k
g.
The excavated underground piping was triple rinsed with
pressurized steam on the inside and outside. The cleaned
piping was transported as a non--hazardous waste to the Levin
Metal corporation in Sacramento, California for recycling.
All rinsate water was collected in United States Department of
Transportation approved 55-gallon drums. The rinsate water
was transported and disposed of by Romic Chemical corporation
in East Palo Alto, California
Approximately 20 cubic yards of the excavated soil is f
currently situated on and covered by plastic, next to the
excavation trenches. Based on the soil results, the soil
within 2.5 feet below the former gasoline pipes does not
require treatment or disposal. We have recommended that Del
Monte backfill the soil into the trenches.
kr Please call me if you have any comments or questions at (510)
6528149 (ext. 2118) .
sincerely,
CH2M HILL
Bern Baumgartner
Environmental Engineer
BEB/pipe
cc: Mr. Steven Schneider/PHS
Services
Mr. Wilbur Sp g /
24r.
