Iriff
q KL Is, V`R111' .RV,
kAC
r An employee owned company
03 OCT 23 PM 12, 01
File No. 12280.REM2
October 21, 2003
Ms. Heather Kuklo
San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District
4230 Kiernan Avenue, Suite 130
Modesto, California 95356-9321
Subject: Permit to Operate- Source Test Report
Soil Vapor Extraction System (Catalytic Oxidizer)
Former Disco Site
110 North Filbert Street
Stockton, California
Dear Ms. Kukla:
We are submitting the following Source Test Report on behalf of Del Monte Foods, Inc. related
to remediation of a former gasoline station located at 110 North Filbert Street in Stockton,
California. The soil and groundwater at the site contain petroleum hydrocarbons. As you are
aware, we plan to remediate the source area with soil vapor extraction (SVE) combined with air
sparging technology, and.treat the offsite 1,2 DCA plume with ozone sparging technology. Mr.
Kevin Staples with Kleinfelder completed a Source Test in your presence on August 26, 2003
during which you inspected the system as well as our monitoring and sampling procedures. This
report details that testing. We have prepared this Source Test Report in accordance with
SJVAPCD's "Application For Authority to Construct (ATC) and Permit to Operate (PTO)
Instructions."
SOURCE TEST RESULTS -
For background, the extraction and emission control system used at the site is a Stealth Industries
Cobra 500 thermal/catalytic oxidizer capable of 500 scfm of air. For the Source Test we ran the
unit at a flow of approximately 250 scfin including dilution. The unit performed the extraction
with a 15 HP positive displacement blower. The burner for the unit was supplemented with
natural gas and is rated at a maximum of 1,000,000 BTU/hr. A blower running at 250 cfm
supplied combustion air to the burner. The exhaust stack height of the treatment system is 6'6"
feet and the diameter of the stack is 22 inches. The minimum combustion chamber temperature
and stack gas temperature is 600 degrees F.
12280.REM2/STD3L581 Page 1 to 4
Copyright 2003,Kleinfelder,Inc.
