k4 KLEINEELDER
TPH-g removed during Kleinfelder's operation of the system are approximately 27,062
pounds (per date of the sampling).
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The remediation systems are continuing to operate at the site and are successfully
removing petroleum hydrocarbons from the soil and groundwater. Source area
groundwater monitoring well MW-DIS-1 continues to show decreasing concentrations
for TPH purgeable as gasoline, benzene and 1,2-DCA. Since the beginning of 2003 to
August 2005 in MW-DIS-1, TPH purgeable as gasoline has decreased from 22,000
ug/L to 5,900 ug/L, benzene has decreased from 3,300 ug/L to 130 ug/L, and 1,2 DCA
has decreased from 92 ug/L to 41 ug/L.
Kleinfelder recommends continued operation of the remediation system and continued
groundwater monitoring according to the "Groundwater Monitoring Frequency Decision
Tree".
We recommend that TBA and EDB be discontinued from the suite of analyses
conducted on groundwater samples collected from MW-DIS-11 S, MW-DIS-11 D, MW-
DIS-12, MW-DIS-13, MW-DIS-14S, and MW-DIS-14D in accordance with the
Groundwater Monitoring Decision Tree. We also recommend that the Oxygenates
TBA, MTBE, DIPE, ETBE, and TAME be discontinued from the suite of analyses
conducted on groundwater samples collected from MW-DIS-15 in accordance with the
"Groundwater Monitoring Decision Tree".
Kleinfelder recommends that Del Monte Foods submit a copy of this report to Mr. Mike
Infurna of the San Joaquin County Environmental Heath Division and Mr. Jim Barton of
the Central Valley Office of the State of California Regional Water Quality Control
Board (CVRWQCB) for their review and consideration. Discontinuing the analyses as
noted above should only be undertaken following concurrence with San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Divisioin.
i
This report is subject to the limitations in Chapter 7 of this report.
i
i
c
12280.MONIST06R070 MIv Page 3 of 14
0 2006 Kleinfelder, Inc.
