Groundwater respiration was measured to <br /> assess the decline in dissolved oxygen concentration; and vadose zone respiration was <br /> measured to assess the decline in oxygen and rise in carbon dioxide associated with biological <br /> activity within the treatment zone of the AS/SVE system both above and below the <br /> groundwater table. The tests consisted of taking a time series of in situ soil gas measurements <br /> in groundwater piezometers at two depths and in the vadose zone at two depths. <br />
