I <br /> C' 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> I <br /> FMC Corporation (FMC), contracted with Hydro-Search, Inc. (HSI) on November 29, <br /> 1995 to excavate and dispose of hydrocarbon-impacted soils at Ramacher <br /> Manufacturing Inc. plant site at 5023 North Flood Road, Linden, San Joaquin County, <br /> California, hereafter referred to as the Linden Property. The site is 4.92 acres and is <br /> located south of Highway 26 and west of North Flood Road (Figure 1 ). The San <br /> Joaquin County Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) for the site are 105-170-32 and <br /> 105-170-33. <br /> The Linden Property is bounded by single family homes to the north, North Flood Road <br /> Cto the east, and agricultural land planted with row crops to the south and west. <br /> Ramacher uses the site to build, repair, and service machinery used in the harvesting <br /> Cof nuts. According to Mr. Eldon B. Huff, the plant manager, the site has been used <br /> • to manufacture agricultural equipment since the early 1950's. A more complete <br /> 1 description of the site and manufacturing processes is presented in the Limited <br /> Environmental Site Assessment, prepared by HSI, dated June 16, 1995. <br /> The work was conducted by HSI and Delta Oilfield Services. HSI personnel included <br /> CGerald B. Swanick, Gail I. Bakker, W. Marty Hartzell, and Dennis S. Dettloff. <br /> 1. 1 Purpose <br /> The purpose of the work was to remove soils, identified in the Phase II Site <br /> Assessment, (HSI, 1995b) above the San Joaquin County (SJC) action level of 100 <br /> mg/kg for total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH).
