James Butler, of your office has requested written <br /> direction on how to properly destroy this well. <br /> Due to the high levels of fecal coliform detected in the recently <br /> drilled monitoring wells and in order to assist in the assessment <br /> of contamination at this location, we request that laboratory <br /> analysis of this water well be conducted prior to its destruction. <br /> The samples should be analyzed for fecal coliform, benzene, <br /> toluene, xylenes, ethyl benzene, and total petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> as diesel. In addition to sampling the irrigation well, the <br /> location and use of water wells within a 2000 ft. radius should be <br /> identified. <br /> The irrigation well should be sounded for total depth and the <br /> static water level measured. At the time the pump is pulled, the <br /> well shall be secured with a water tight cover pending final <br /> disposition. <br /> This information, excluding sample results, shall be submitted to <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health <br /> Division within two weeks of receipt of this letter analytical <br /> results shall be submitted to SJC/PHS/EHD upon receipt from the <br /> laboratory. <br /> A Division of San Joaquin County Health Cere Services '� <br />
