Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor
Stockton, CA 95202
Subject: Site Status Report, Second Quarter 2002, Smiths Canal Pump Plant, 2144 Fontana
Street, Stockton, California, Site Code 1102
Mr. Wong:
This letter report summarizes groundwater monitoring activities at the above referenced site
< (Figure 1) during the second quarter of 2002. These activities included monitoring fluid levels in
all site wells and collecting groundwater samples from wells MWI, MW2, MW3, MW4, MWS,
MW6, and MW7 for laboratory analysis.
FIELD WORK
On May 31, 2002, static fluid levels were measured in monitoring wells MWI through MW7.
The water table elevation decreased an average of 0.09 feet since February 2002. Table 1
summarizes the water level data collected during the reporting period and provides previous data
for comparison.
A groundwater gradient map was created for the May 31, 2002 monitoring event(Figure 2)using
groundwater elevation data from all the wells monitored. Figure 2 depicts a generally north
groundwater flow direction at a magnitude of approximately 0.003 ft/ft or 17 ft/mile.
Floating petroleum product has previously been observed in well MW4. On May 31, 2002, only
a slight, unmeasurable sheen was observed in well MW4. No free product was recovered from
the well because the quantity was too small to be collected into a bailer. Table 2 summarizes the
product thickness measurements and volume of product removed from previous monitoring
events.
Groundwater samples were collected on May 31, 2002 from all wells, MWI through MW7.
Prior to sample collection, each sampled well was purged of a minimum of three well casing
wA62574.021quart1y12gmr2002.doe I
ENVIRONMENTAL, GEOTECHNICAL AND MATERIALS PROFESSIONALS
