In addition
to the low amounts of contamination noted from beneath tanks#4, #5, and#8, low levels
of metals (background) and 1.0 ppm and 0.6 ppm of bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate was
detected beneath the two 550 gallon waste oil tanks.
Please refer to Table 1 for the results of the tank removal.
01-10-90 The areas around former tanks#4, #5, and#8 were over-excavated this date. Two soil
samples were obtained from the finished excavation from each former tank pit area.
Please refer to Table 2 for the soil results.
03-15-95 Two soil borings/hyrdopunch were installed at the site this date to confirm soil impact to
be minimal and to verify groundwater quality has not been threatened. The first soil
boring/hydropunch location was through the former waste oil tank pit area. There was no
evidence of soil contamination during drilling and the soil type was mostly silts. All
attempts at obtaining a groundwater sample from this boring were futile.
The second soil boring/hydropunch location was in the comer of the former tank#5 pit
area where the residual soil contamination was evidenced after the 1990 over-excavation.
This boring did not show any evidence of soil contamination and a groundwater sample
was obtained from approx. 25' bgs from a silty sand layer. Please refer to Table 3 for the
results of the groundwater sample obtained during this verification field visit.
0417-95 PHS/EHD receives recommendation for closure and concurs.
I
