California Environmental Protection Agency
Department of Toxic Substances Control
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. Risk of Upset (Workbook; page 26)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description of Environmental Setting.
The contamination at the Site is not identified as an explosive, nor will the proposed remedial action
involve excavation and removal activities that have any significant potential for explosion. Although
the Project at the Site involves the remediation of contaminated soil, the heavy equipment used to
excavate and transport the soil will be monitored to minimize the release of the contaminated soil via
air or dust emissions.
To prevent exposure to public health and worker health and safety from potential emissions, a Health
and Safety Plan will be required to be prepared in compliance with Title 29 of the Code of Federal
Regulations Part 1910.120 and adopted by the California Occupational Safety and Health
Administration. In the event there is an emergency as a result of construction activities, the nearest
hospital is St. Joseph s Hospital located at 1800 N. California, Stockton, 95204.
Ref: Treadwell & Rollo s, Field Investigation Work Plan, North Shore Parcels, Stockton, California,
24 March 2000.
Analysis of Potential Impacts:
No risk of upset is anticipated.
Ref: Treadwell & Rollo s, Field Investigation Work Plan, North Shore Parcels, Stockton, California,
24 March 2000.
Findings:
Potentially
Potentially Significant Less Than
Significant Unless Significant No
Impact Mitigated Impact Impact
X
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
13
