California Environmental Protection Agency
Department of Toxic Substances Control
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
14. Public Health and Safety (Workbook; page 34)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description of Environmental Settino:
One of the remedial action objectives for this site is the protection of human health. Protection of
human health can be achieved by reducing chemical concentrations or eliminating the potential for
exposure. The removal of contaminated soil is designed to protect human health by eliminating the
potential for exposure. Potential human health impacts are, therefore, limited to exposure of
construction workers and onsite personnel who are involved with the implementation of the remedial
activities. These individuals will be required to take a 40-hour hazardous waste operator training
course and will be required to wear the appropriate personal protection equipment when working on
the site. In accordance with 29 Code of Federal Regulations 1910.120, 8 California Code of
Regulations 5192, and the California Health and Safety Code, a health and safety plan will be been
prepared to educate and familiarize the onsite workers with the site history, proposed work activities,
known and potential hazards, emergency actions, and health and safety information that is necessary
to mitigate the risk of the identified hazards. The SJVUAPCD s requirements will be met for
monitoring and/or controlling fugitive dust during remediation.
Ref: Insite Environmental: Administrative Draft, Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Report
for the Mudville 9 Ballpark, Downtown Stockton, California, November 8, 1999
Analysis of Potential Impacts.-
There
mpacts:There is no potential for significant adverse effects to human health.
Ref: Insite Environmental: Administrative Draft, Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Report
for the Mudville 9 Ballpark, Downtown Stockton, California, November 8, 1999
Findings:
Potentially
Potentially Significant Less Than
Significant Unless Significant No
Impact Mitigated Impact Impact
X
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
20
