Given our findings, we are proposing the use of an in situ air sparging/soil
vapor extraction system (SVES) for removing light end dissolved-phase and residual-
phase petroleum hydrocarbons from groundwater beneath the site and the
intermediate zone between groundwater and unsaturated soils vadose zone).
The proposed system functions by injecting air into the groundwater for the purpose
l
of stripping petroleum hydrocarbons and VOCs dissolved in oundwater or
PP g P Y gr
contained in the vadose zone. The air forms bubbles that rise into the vadose and
unsaturated zones carrying trapped and dissolved petroleum hydrocarbons and
CORPORATE OFFICE
3050 lnausb i,I Blvd. volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
