On October 29, 1986, when monitoring well MW 1 was <br /> installed, groundwater was measured at 16.3 feet below ground surface. However, WKA <br /> -- personnel measured the depth to water approximately six years later (12/22/92) at 27.3 feet bgs. <br /> l The groundwater level beneath the site subsequently rose as high as 12.5 feet bgs but has <br /> �l recently returned to approximately 15 feet below grade. <br /> Site History <br /> Crystal Cream and Butter Company (Crystal Creamery) has owned and operated a dairy <br /> distribution facility at the site since 1965 . Prior to this date the site was owned by Clover Leaf <br /> Dairy, which also operated a dairy processing plant on site. <br /> Mr. Steve Jerkins of Crystal Creamery was interviewed by telephone on April 29, 1991 regarding <br /> historical information on the underground storage tank previously removed from the site. He <br /> indicated no specific knowledge of existing records of tank maintenance, leaks, spills or <br /> faccidents. He also indicated that he had no personal knowledge of fill or use records. <br /> f _ Project History <br /> The following information was obtained during a review of files located at the San Joaquin <br /> J County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD). <br /> One 10,000-gallon unleaded gasoline storage tank was removed from the site on September 3 , <br /> 1986. Analytical results of soil samples collected from beneath the tank by Mr. Michael Ramos, <br /> immediately following the tank removal, revealed Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon as gasoline <br /> (TPHg) concentrations ranging from <20 mg/kg to 3 ,600 mg/kg. <br /> On October 29, 1986 Applied GeoSystems (AGS) drilled and sampled two soil borings. Boring <br /> B 1 was advanced to 21 . 5 feet below grade; ground water was encountered at 16.3 feet below <br /> grade during drilling.
