404 WEST FREMONT STREET
WKA No. 1628 .09
I
August 31 , 2001> Page 11
wells will be strategically placed in unsaturated zone above the petroleum hydrocarbon
groundwater plume. The wells will be spaced such that the entire zone of contamination receives
maximum airflow.
Well vault cross sections for the vapor extraction wells and air sparging points are shown on Plates
{ 6 and 7, respectively. A cross section detail diagram for the trenching and underground piping is
shown on Plate 8. The manufacturer's diagrams, descriptions and specifications for the SVES,
carbon filters and air sparging system are appended.
Soil and Groundwater Treatment System Enclosure
I The air sparging and soil vapor extraction equipment will be housed in a 10-foot by 14-foot by 6-
foot high chain-link fence enclosure. A fence detail diagram is shown on Plate 9. The underground
piping connected to the air sparging points and vapor extraction wells will daylight and are
manifolded inside the enclosure. The sampling ports, measurement devices (temperature gauges,
flow meters, pressure gauges, etc.) will be located at the piping manifold inside the treatment
enclosure. A flow diagram for the SVES and air sparging system are shown on Plate 10. A
temporary electrical power pole and a NEMA 4 electrical control panel will be installed inside the
I enclosure.
J
I I System Operation and Maintenance
The air sparging/soil vapor extraction system will be concurrently monitored on a weekly basis for
Lj the first month and twice a month for the next eleven months. The following aboveground system
performance parameters and in-situ responses will be monitored at scheduled times during system
operations:
II • Ambient air injection pressure and flow rate
• Dissolved oxygen levels in groundwater
• Depth-to-water levels
® Dissolved oxygen levels in groundwater (using a portable down-hole DO meter)
• Dissolved-phase and vapor-phase TPH as gasoline, BTEX and oxygenate concentrations
 n=aen.rrsa4vc.
