CRYSTAL CREAMERY STOCKTON
f f WKA No. 1628.10
February 5, 2000
Page 6
reports and chain-of-custody documentation of soil gas samples and water samples are included
as Appendix A as well.
Soil Boring and Well Installation
On September 12, 2000,we drilled three soil borings at the locations shown on Plate 2. The
borings were constructed using a Geoprobe®rig to depths ranging from 15 to 23 feet below site
grade. One boring(MW8) located near the northwest corner of the building, was subsequently
converted into a specialized monitoring well. In order to comply with the San Joaquin County well
ordinance, the top five feet of the well boring was hand excavated so that a minimum annular
surface seal of at least two inches was provided. During the drilling of boring MW8 a single soil
sample was retained for analysis from the soil/water interface and a single grab groundwater sample
was collected.
The well was drilled to a depth of 23 feet with 15 feet of 0.02-inch screened casing placed at the
bottom. The screened casing was followed to the surface by eight feet of blank casing; sand was
placed around screen casing to a depth of seven feet and was topped with a two-foot thick bentonite
chip seal. The bentonite was topped with neat cement grout providing the surface seal. A flush-
mounted, traffic-rated utility box was used to secure the well surface.
The two soil borings were constructed near the northwest corner of Van Buren and West Fremont
street with one boring located along the west side of Van Buren(HP2) and one located along the
north side of West Fremont(HPI). Each boring was drilled to the soil/groundwater interface where
a single water sample was collected. All samples were preserved on ice, transported under chain-
of-custody,and analyzed as described above at a California-certified analytical laboratory.
Laboratory analysis of the three water samples and one soil sample obtained during the boring
investigation revealed no detectable concentrations of the target analytes. A copy of the complete
laboratory report is attached. Field procedures are included as Appendix B.
The well was developed January 4, 2000 by surging, then removing over five casing volumes(the
amount of water standing in the casing prior to pumping)of water until it was relatively free of
INK
WALLACE.KUM
