404 WEST FREMONT STREET <br /> ' WKA No 1628 08 <br /> February 11, 1997 <br /> Page 3 <br /> The California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, (CRWCB,CVR) <br /> 1995 Water Quality Goals lists a drinking water Maximum Allowable Contaminant Level (MCL) <br /> for Nitrate as N of 10 mg/L While the concentrations of Nitrate as N exceed the MCL for <br /> drinking water in MM2 and MW6, Nitrates are unrelated to the underground storage tank <br /> investigation <br /> Our previous quarterly report referenced a remediation feasibility workplan wtuch was approved <br /> by SJCPHS on September 9, 1996 In light of the above findings and a discussion with Steve <br /> Sasson of SJCPHS, dunng our field sampling December 18, 1996, we have recommended to <br /> Crystal Cream & Butter Company that the work outlined in this workplan be put on indefinite <br /> hold We made this recommendation because of the changing site conditions and the uncertainties <br /> in the current regulatory climate We will, however, continue to sample the site on a quarterly <br /> basis during this penod of inactivity to better document the local groundwater and contaminant <br /> plume trends <br /> The next quarter of ground water sampling is scheduled for February 1997 Our report for next <br /> quarter will be transmitted upon completion of laboratory testing <br /> Wallace m Ku & Associ Inc <br /> K Balasek <br /> error Hydrogeologist <br /> KB EH sdm <br /> Copy to Mr Steve Sasson, San Joaquin County , <br /> K\Crystai11628-08 qt <br /> WALLACE•KUHL <br /> &ASSOCIATES INC <br />
