404 WEST FREMONT
WKA No 1628 01
February 25, 1993
Page 6
' Ground Water Conditions
Ground water was encountered during drilling at a depth of 26 feet below grade Recent ground
water measurements (February 24, 1993) indicate the ground water remains at 26 feet below
grade Based on these latest water level measurements, the ground water flow direction beneath
' the site appears to be flowing generally to the north and east with a hydraulic gradient of
0 002 ft/ft
1
Ground water samples were collected from wells MW2, MW3, and MW4 on December 21 and
' 22, 1992 after they had been developed and purged as described in Appendix A Detectable
TPH-gasoline concentrations were found in the water samples collected from each well with the
' exception of well MW3, in which only trace toluene concentrations were encountered TPH-
gasoline concentrations in wells MW2 and MW4 were 69 gglf and 11,000 Aglf, respectively
Benzene concentrations in water samples from wells MW2 and MW4 were 0 51 ag/f,, and 1100
gglf respectively Well MW1 was sampled on April 8, 1992 A 118 to 114-inch thickness of
product was observed floating on the water A sample of the product revealed a TPH-gasoline
' concentration of 20,000 uglf and a benzene concentration of 180 gg/f, no diesel or motor oil
was detected No floating hydrocarbons were observed in any of the wells during water level
measurements taken on February 24, 1993 A summary of test results for the water samples is
included as Table 3 Laboratory reports and chain-of-custody documents are included in
' Appendix B
CONCLUSIONS
' Based on review of past work at the site and findings from our present investigation, soil and
ground water contamination as gasoline exists beneath the site The majority of gasoline
' contamination in soils appear to be limited to the immediate vicinity of the former fuel tank The
majority of these soils have been excavated and removed
WALLACS KUHL
Er ASSOCIATES INC
R rnlcd paper
