i <br /> N <br /> the SWRCB Clean up Fund Letter of Committment , you must make application to <br /> the State of California Water Resources Control Board ' s ( SWRCB ) " Petroleum <br /> Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund" ( Fund ) . An application package for the <br /> Fund has been provided . <br /> The Fund was created pursuant to Chapter 6 . 75 of the California Health and <br /> Safety Code to help eligible owners and operators of petroleum underground <br /> storage tanks to : <br /> 1 . Meet federal requirements to demonstrate financial responsibility ; <br /> 2 . Obtain reimbursement for costs of the cleanup of unauthorized <br /> releases of petroleum from USTs ; and <br /> 3 . Obtain reimbursement for damages awarded to third parties who are <br /> injured by petroleum releases . <br /> The maximum amount available from the Fund is $990 , 000 per occurrence . <br /> Claimants are responsible for the first $ 10 , 000 of eligible costs . <br /> Applications must be submitted to the SWRCB Clean Up Fund by March 31 , 1994 to <br /> undergo eligibility ranking for funding in the 1994-95 state fiscal budget <br /> year . All subsurface investigations and remedial actions must be performed <br /> under a workplan approved by PHS /EHD . <br /> The Fund does not cover the costs incurred for the removal , repair , retrofit , <br /> or installation of USTs .
