(AGE),
informed the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) that to install the
electrical system to operate the catalytic/thermal oxidizer associated with operating the soil
vapor extraction (SVE) and in-situ air sparge (IAS) systems at the above-referenced site
would cost $18,648 . AGE proposed replacing the catalytic/thermal oxidizer with a carbon-
based SVE unit to operate the SVE/IAS systems, having determined that a carbon-based SVE
remediation system "would be more economically feasible for mitigating impacted soil and
groundwater at the site."
The EHD approves the replacement of the catalytic/thermal oxidizer with a carbon-based SVE
system using a vacuum blower capable of 250 cubic feet per minute, a condensation
separator, and three 1 , 000-pound vapor carbon vessels for destroying petroleum hydrocarbon
contaminants in soil and groundwater as a result of unauthorized releases from the
underground storage tank formerly located at this site.
Please contact Vicki McCartney at (209) 468-9852 or by email at vmccartney@sjcehd. com if
you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Victoria L.
