WORK PLAN FOR PRELIMINARY
SOIL AND GROUND WATER INVESTIGATION
September 1995
Guardino & Crawford
517 West Fremont Street
Stockton, California
1 .0. INTRODUCTION
In accordance with the request of Mr. Dave Guardino of Guardino & Crawford, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) has prepared this Work Plan for the installation three (3) "direct
push" penetrations at 517 West Fremont Street in Stockton, California (the Site) . The location of the
site is illustrated in Figure 1 ; a plan of the site is illustrated in Figure 2.
i
I
2.0. BACKGROUND
2. 1 . SITE LOCATION
The site is located in an industrial/commercial area of west-central Stockton, approximately 1 mile
east of Interstate 5 . The property is occupied by Guardino & Crawford, general engineering
contractors.
2.2. UNf.)ERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL
It is our understanding that one underground storage tank (USTs) and the associated piping and
dispenser were removed from the property in September 1989. Soil samples collected at the time of
removal indicated that petroleum hydrocarbons were detected beneath the UST and dispenser at
concentrations up to 700 parts per million (gasoline) . Soil samples were collected at depths of 13 . 5
feet (UST) and 4 . 5 feet (dispenser).
2. 3 . GROUND WATER DEPTH ANu FLOW DIRECTION
Ground water depth at the site is presently between 20 and 25 feet below surface grade (bsg) .
However, at the time of removal of the UST, ground water depth. was approximately 15 feet bsg.
Data collected from monitoring wells in the vicinity of the site indicate that ground water flow
direction is to the north or northeast.
