Hunter & Associates November, 1994 PURPOSE OF WORK- In February, 1988, a 500 gallon US'T' which had contained gasoline was removed from the property. A soil sample taken from beneath the tank site at 13' bgl revealed the presence of toluene, xylene, & petroleum as TVPH. The removed spoil was returned to the site and no further work was done at that time. On October 18, 1993, the San Joaquin County EHD informed the owner that a groundwater investigation must be performed as a 1'QW result of the contamination encountered after removal of the UST. In February & March, 1994 , three (3) groundwater monitoring wells were placed on the property to evaluate the extent of that con- tamination. The results of that work revealed that both soil & groundwater had been impacted by the UST, and further investiga- tive work is required per correspondence from San Joaquin County EHD dated August 9, 1994. An additional monitoring well in a downgradient position is planned in an attempt to define the lateral extent of groundwater contamination_ In order to reduce the possibility of continued leaching of contamination from the impacted soil into the groundwater, it is planned to reenter the site of the removed UST, remove the spoil which had been returned to the hole, and excavate as much remain- ing contaminated soil as possible. It is planned to perform this work prior to placement of a fourth monitoring well . A workplan to accomplish that work follows. PROPERTY LOCATION: 913 West Fremont Street, Stockton, California.
