INTRODUCTION
This Report contains the Nitrate Loading/Soil Suitability Studies and operational detail for the
onsite wastewater treatment system (OWTS) for the project referenced on the Title Page. These
Studies provide the EHD with their required information regarding the examination of the
underlying soil and groundwater, nitrate loading potential and design parameters in conjunction
with these findings. This report complies with San Joaquin County Development Title, Section 9-
1105.2(d).
Within the text of this Report, Bolded Section (§) numbers are referenced at the beginning of an
applicable Paragraph(s), or Appendices that correspond with the EHD Requirements Checklist.
Section Numbers referenced as SSS§, are sections applicable for the Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist. Section Numbers referenced as NLS§, are sections applicable for the
Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist. Other portions of text may also apply to other
sections of the Checklists, but may not necessarily be referenced.
NLS§ 2.3, SSS§ 3.1. Dr. Gurinder Singh Grewal and Gurmail Kour Grewal as Trustees of the
Grewal Revocable Trust is proposing to construct an Agricultural Building to store agricultural
equipment and implements within the building. The building is also proposed to have an interior
unisex bathroom. The subject property is located on the west side of Bird Road, one-half mile
south of Lovely Road.
SSS§ 1.1, 1.2. The Site Plan produced by Quartaroli and Associates found in Appendix F
illustrates the layout of the property. The SJC District Viewer Map indicates the subject Parcel is
67.19 acres. Present land use of the property is predominately an almond orchard, and a
comparatively small open area at the south end of the Parcel for irrigation water conveyance and
the proposed location of the Ag Building.
The testing protocol has found the indigenous soils under the proposed filter bed disposal area
location to contain a predominate silty sand material possessing exceptional permeability.
SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY FINDINGS
A. SUBJECT PROPERTY AND SURROUNDING STUDY AREA INFORMATION
SSS§ 1.1. Land use to the immediate north, south and west is agricultural production land,
primarily almond orchards. To the immediate east is the Rhodes-Stockton Bean Co-op. Housing is
sparse rural residential.
SSS§ 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, 6.8. Applications for Permit in the EHD microfiche files were
reviewed to determine life spans of surrounding septic systems in a one-half mile radius. Four
repairs/ additions permits were found. Therefore, it appears that systems in this locale possess
reasonable life spans. Copies of these Applications are found in Appendix E.
Page -1-
Chesney Consulting
