•
revocable permit have already been issued by the City of
Stockton; they are included as EXHIBIT D. The site will be marked
and cleared by USA prior to beginning operations . A registered
geologist from Wm. J. Hunter & Associates will supervise all
drilling, coring, and completion operations .
1 . Mobilize properly licensed auger rig equipped with sufficient
clean flights to complete the well without having to decontami-
nate equipment . Coring equipment will consist of 2 California
modified split--spoon samplers designed to hold 1 1/2" or larger
metal sleeves . While one barrel is in service, the other can be
cleaned and prepared for use .
2 . Soil samples will be taken at 5 ' bgl & 10 , bgl, or as close
to the capillary fringe as possible . The potentiometric surface
in December, 1995, was measured at an average depth of 12 .311 ,
but may be slightly lower at this location . Soil samples will be
screened, examined, and preserved using WJH standard field
protocol . Drill cuttings and unused core material will be placed
in tightly sealed, suitably marked steel drums; they will be
stored on site pending results of laboratory analyses .
• 3 . After verifying water depth, the augers will be advanced to
25 ' bgl, or 10 ' below water level, whichever is deepest .
4 . After reaching total depth, 211 , blank & slotted flush screw-
joint Sch. 40 PVC will be run to bottom; the bottom 20 ' to be
. 02011 shop-made slots, and the rest blank. Sand pack will
consist of #2 1/2 or #3 graded, washed sand poured down the
annulus from the surface . After verifying the top of the sand
pack, sufficient bentonite, (pellets or powder, ) will be placed
on top of the sand & wetted with water. After verifying the top
of the bentonite, the remainder of the annulus will be filled
with a thoroughly mixed slurry of cement & bentonite .
5 . The top of the casing will be fitted with a precast Christy-
type vault, and a locking traffic cover. The casing will extend
into the vault far enough to allow the installation of an expand-
able locking casing seal . The north side of the casing will be
notched and marked to assist in surveying and water level
measurements . Refer to PLATE XII for a generalized schematic of
the proposed well completion.
6 . Preserved soil samples will be delivered under chain of
custody to a State Certified laboratory with instructions to test
for BETX (EPA 8020, ) & TPHg (EPA 8015M, ) using Tri-Regional
reporting limits .
0
10
