the east, south, & west of the UST site . Soil probes A-5 & B-4
determined the soil plume to the east/southeast ; however, there
was no water entry from those locations & the limits of the water
Plume need further definition in that direction.
2 . MW-2 , located in a downgradient position, indicates that the
contamination has moved to the north, which is the indicated
direction of groundwater flow. This has been confirmed by the
geoprobe sampling, which defined the limits of the soil & water
plume to the west, northwest, and southeast . Additional soil
probes are scheduled in an attempt to find the "zero" line to the
north & northeast .
RECOMMENDATIONS :
It is recommended that quarterly sampling of MW-3 be discon-
tinued; it has not shown any contamination since monitoring
began. MW--1 should be sampled during the next quarterly event to
determine if the minor amount of toluene & xylene measured in the
latest work is repeatable . MW-2 should continue to be sampled
until conditions change . Water level measurements should conti-
nue in all three wells to determine gradient direction; if major
• changes occur, sampling of well #3 should be done again.
On November 27 & 28, 1995, eight (8) shallow soil probes were
placed on the site and the sidewalk and street for the purpose of
defining the lateral extent of the plume. That work revealed
that soil & groundwater contamination is present beneath the
street northeast of the property; an additional three (3) soil
probes, (D-1, D-2 , & D-3, ) were placed on January 4, 1996 in an
attempt to determine the limits of the plume . The results of
that work will be furnished to the County EHD after receipt of
the 1 boratory results and analysis of the data.
W
Wm J nter & Associates
J u y 5 , 1996 ?:EDGE
Q
cc . eth Thayer, CVRWQCB S O
G.
