The scope of the work is baser. on findings from przvious investigations. <br /> SITE BACKGROUND <br /> The site, was the location of one 10,000 gallon underground I,roduct storage tank which contained <br /> transformer oil for use at the facility (Figure 2). The tank and ancillary buried product lines were <br /> removed in January, 1957, On January 16, 1987, Twining LaboAtories Trio, collected four soil samples; <br /> A: varving depths, in the vicinity of the former storage tank and product lines. The samples were <br /> iaboratory analyzed fear oil and grease, total volatile organic hydrocarbons, and PCBs. All samples <br /> contained coil unci gr,-ase above method detection limits. Only samples S-2 and S-4 contained total,volatile <br /> organic: hydrocarbons above method detection limits, and only. sample S-2 contained 1.0 ppm PCB_ <br /> Twining ?abu►'atviie5` report elated January 26. 1987 is pruvidlw(l:. n Attachment 1. Results of laboratory <br /> analyses are sure)-narized in Table 1 , <br /> SCOPE OF WORM <br /> The fallowing scope of work is basad upon the information outlined above. The work is designed to <br /> remove impacted soli in the vicinity, of the former tank and product lines (Figure 2). All field work will <br /> be performed under supe-rvision of RIESNA personnel in accordance with the Site Safety Plan (Attachment <br /> 2), <br /> Sail Excavation and Sampling <br /> To prevent residual �°c)ntr.minants in the sail from acting as a solake ot'grotindwater degradation., the soil <br /> in the vicinity of the former storage tank and 1),Mieri Product lines will be excavated. A backhoe capable <br /> c)f excavating to a depth of at least 15 feet will be used. A 40-hour health and safety trained PG&E crew <br /> will perform the excavation.
