I� <br /> On January 16 , 1987 , closure aind removal of the 10 , 000 <br /> I <br /> gallon tank , sump , and piping were performed by S . O . S . <br /> International , Inc . After removal operations were complete , soil <br /> I� <br /> samples were obtained from the excavations in the presence of <br /> personnel from the San Joaquin Local Health District . Locations <br /> of the soil samples are presented on Drawing No . 2 . Due to <br /> uncertain weather conditions and safety concerns , the excavations <br /> were backfilled and compacted . <br /> On January 26 , 1987 , results of ,the soil samples obtained <br /> during the closure operations were Isubmitted to Ms . Laurie <br /> a <br /> t Cotulla of the San Joaquin Local Health District . Upon review of <br /> the results , Ms . Cotulla indicateld that the detectable <br /> concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons present in the soil ? <br /> i <br /> samples were high enough to warrant ,further investigations : <br /> Based on a telephone conversation bet,,ween Ms . Cotulla and Mr . <br /> Karl Kerner of our office , there are three areas that warrant <br /> further investigation . These three areas of concern are : 1 ) <br /> sail beneath the underground tank towardsthe fill end , 2 ) soil <br /> beneath the sump , and 3 ) soil beneathI� the product line from the <br /> i <br /> sump to the pump .
