Il
Pacific Gas & Electric Company I Page 3
Stockton Service Center
Stockton , California
OBJECTIVES OF STUDY
i1
The objectives of the proposed engineering investigation are
presented as follows :
# j
1 . Determine the existence and concentration of selected.
components in the soil in the three areas of concern.
f r 2. Evaluate the findings to determine the general extent
of petroleum hydrocarbon migration in the area where'
the tank , sump , and piping were located .
i
P
I The general scope of this investigation , which is deemed
necessary to achieve the above-stated objectives , is as follows :
1 . Using a drilling rig , drill three test borings to a
maximum depths of 5 and 10 feet below previous sampling
depths .
l
2 . Obtain soil samples from each boring at depths of 5
4 feet and 10 feet below the original sample depths in.
each area of concern.
` 3. Analyze each soil sample in the laboratory for the
presence and concentration of selected .
'i
TECHNICAL APPROACH
i
We propose to obtain two soil samples in each of the three
areas of concern . Representative soil samples will be collected'
from Boring No . 1 at depths of 20 and 25 feet , from Boring No . 2-
i+
it
at depths of 10 and 15 feet , and from Boring No . 3 at depths of 8
and 13 feet . These soil samples will be collected from locations
i that correspond to depths of 5 and 10 feet below the original.
soil samples obtained at the time the underground transformer oil.
' I!
.i
 neu,unimg rallmatnuea.itc.
i Fresno Modesto00 Visalia Bakersfield
