27 January 2006
AGE-NC Project No 98-0500
HU6 - Water table 150 feet
Depths to ground water for deep-screened wells MW-34, MW-36, MW-39, MW-42, MW-44,
MW-46, and MW-48 (screened from 140 feet to 150 feet bsg)ranged from 47 98 feet to 49 21 feet
below the tops of the well casings Groundwater elevations were calculated to be between 31 69 feet
(MW-39) and 31 94 feet (MW-44 and MW-34 at the UST location) below MSL
Groundwater flow direction was southeast from the former UST dispenser area toward well MW-48
at a gradient of 0 001 ft/ft The ground water elevation map is depicted on Figure 5
Ground water elevation in the wells screened across the water table increased more than 6 6 feet
between the August and December 2005 ground water monitoring events (Table 3) This increase
in ground water elevation may signal a recharge of the ground water in the area during the start of
winter or later portion of year
3 3 2 Laboratory Results of Ground Water Samples
. A total of 47 ground water samples collected from monitoring wells were submitted for laboratory
analysis
HU1 - Water table 60 feet
TPH-g was detected in shallow wells at concentrations ranging from 14,00 µg/1 in well MW-5,
2,200 µg/l in well MW-8, 59,000 µg11 in well MW-1, and up to 41,000 µg/l in well MW-2, TPH-d
was detected at maximum concentrations in wells MW-1 and MW-2 of 36,000lig/l and 30,000 µg/l,
respectively, TPH-stoddard was not detected in the shallow ground water samples
Various BTEX compounds were detected in shallow wells at maximum concentrations of
17,000µg/1 benzene, 11,000 µg/l toluene, 1,400 µg/1 ethylbenzene,and 10,100 µg/l xylenes in well
MW-I The fuel additive 1,2-DCA was detected in samples at a maximum concentration of 340µg/l
(MW-1)
Monitoring well MW-16 was the only well west of the building with significant contamination
TPH-g and TPH-d were detected at concentrations of 34,000 Eig/1 and 68,000 µg/l, respectively,
BTEX compounds were detected at 17 µg/l benzene, 8 1 µg/1 toluene, 44 µg/1 ethylbenzene, and
408 µg/1 xylenes,the fuel additive 1,2-DCA was detected at 13 µg/1 A map depicting the estimated
distribution of dissolved 1,2-DCA in HU1 is illustrated on Figure 6
Advanced GeoEnvironmentai,Inc
