t <br /> t FOOTHILL <br /> ENGINEERING <br /> 12793 PADDY CREEK LANE LODI CA 95240 <br /> r PH (209) 368-9381 FAX (209) 367-1163 <br /> C4 <br /> Mr Michael Infurna October 28, 1999 <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 388 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> Subject Connell Motor Truck Co. - 2211 N Wilson Way Stockton, CA 95205 <br /> Site code 39-1304 <br /> RE Report on Phase 1 of Work Plan for Vertical and Horizontal Delineation of Plume <br /> Dear Mr Infurna, <br /> Please find below the Engineer's Report with findings and recommendations for the Phase 1 work <br /> completed on the above stated property <br /> REPORT OF FINDINGS FOR DELINEATION OF PLUME <br /> HISTORY OF UST REMOVAL AND OVER-EXCAVATION <br /> On June 11, 1998,the three UST's on this site were removed by Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc of Lodi, California <br /> under PHS/EHD permit and oversight Asper the work plan for the removal,soil samples were extracted <br /> and analyzed for BTEX, TPHgas, TPHdiesel, and Oxygenates (see summary of results attached) The <br /> analysis indicated the soil under and near the dispensers was contaminated with both Gasoline and Diesel <br /> The soil underneath and surrounding the three UST's was analyzed as non-detect for all compounds <br /> analyzed The tank excavation was backfilled with onsite pea gravel <br /> Over-excavation of the dispenser area was started and suspended on Decern er 10, 1998 with less than <br /> 50 % of the planned work completed The excavated area was backfilled with pea-gravel and the <br /> excavated soil was stockpiled on the site Work was suspended due to the discovery of a large volume <br /> of contaminated soil found below and adjacent to the pump islands The test results from Sherwood Labs <br /> indicated that the petroleum contamination was old and highly degraded Due to the extent of the <br /> petroleum contamination,the PHS-EHD ordered a delineation of the contamination plume and a ground <br /> water investigation <br /> SOIL BORING PROCEDURE <br /> Three soil borings were made with an eight inch hollow stem auger Soil samples were extracted with a <br /> 1 <br />
