w <br /> FQQTHILL <br /> (• ENGINEERING <br /> 12793 PADDY CREEK LANE LdDI CA 95240 <br /> PH (209) 368-9381 FAX (209) 367-1163 <br /> Mr Michael Infurna July 9, 1998 <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services Revised October 20, 1998 <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 388 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> Subject Connell Motors 2211 N Wilson Way Stockton, CA 95205 <br /> Site code 39-1304 <br /> Dear Mr Infurna, <br /> Foothill Engineering has been retained by Connell Motors as the Civil Engineer in charge to supervise <br /> the closure of the above stated UST site <br /> HISTORY OF UST REMOVAL <br /> • On June 11, 1998, the three UST on this site were removed by Jim Thorpe Oil, Inc of Lodi, California <br /> under PHS/EHD permit and oversight As per the work plan for the removal, soil samples were <br /> extracted and analyzed for BTEX, TPHgas, TPHdiesel, and Oxygenates (see summary of results <br /> attached) The analysis indicated the soil under and near the dispensers was contaminated A ith both <br /> Gasoline and Diesel The soil under and surrounding the three UST's was analyzed as non-detect for <br /> all analytes The tank excavation was backfilled with onsite pea gravel <br /> SITE CLOSURE WORK PLAN <br /> Excavation <br /> This work plan proposes to excavate all of the contaminated soil from the area of the dispensers and <br /> the product piping The analysis of the soil samples extracted in the area of the dispensers indicates that <br /> the fuel spills were limited in quantity and frequency The fuel contamination is concentrated near the <br /> surface and diminishes as depth increases The deepest soil sample,extracted at seven feet, is much less <br /> contaminated than the average of the samples at higher elevations It is estimated size of the required <br /> excavation area is +/-20' X 30' to a depth of+/-8', with a volume of+/- 200 cubic yards <br /> Spoil Disposal <br /> Spoil from the excavation will be stockpiled on site (see site map)until removed to a regulated landfill <br /> or reclaimed for use on site The determination of the final disposal of the excavation spoil will be <br /> made after all soil samples are analyzed and test results are complete Depending on the test results, <br /> the spoil will either be remediated onsite from the stockpile or will be disposed of at Forward, Inc in <br /> Stockton, California <br /> 1 <br />
