Soil Suitability/Nitrate Loading Study Irerralcon
Gribaudo Property ■Acampo, CA
November 12, 2019 ■ Terracon Project No. NA197081
2.1 Chemical and Physical Properties of Soil
2.1.1 Chemical and Physical Soil Properties
Terracon reviewed the USDA NRCS Web Soil Survey and USDA Soil Survey of San Joaquin
County (1992) for information regarding Acampo sandy loam soils (Section 1.5). Selected
physical and chemical properties for the soil types are listed in the following table.
Table 7.
Physical and Chemical Properties
Soil Septic
Name/ Depth USDA Unified Soil Clay Permeability Soil Salinity tank
Ma in Texture Classification % in/hour reaction mmhos/cm absorption
P ( ) ) ( ) (pH) ) P
Sym bol fields
0-19 Sandy SM 7-18 2.0-6.0 6.1-7.8 <2
loam
Acampo Sandy 2.0-6.0 6.6-8.4 <2 moderate
sandy 19-47 loam fine SM 7-15 cemented
loam
101 to coarse pan
47-49 1 Indurated -- --- --- -- --
49-60 1 Cemented --- --- -- -- ---
'Selected USDA physical and chemical properties
2.1.2 Mass Transport Soil Properties
The percolation test has revealed that the sandy silt soils have a moderately rapid permeability.
The longer the effluent remains near the surface, the more treatment is enhanced due to natural
processes within the soil. Based on the stiffness/cementation of the soils at approximatley 5 feet
bgs, effluent is anticipated to remain within the soil column.
2.2 Groundwater Analysis
2.2.1 Regional Groundwater
A discussion of regional groundwater, including depth to groundwater is included in Section 1.4.1.
No significant seasonal trends were evident from the sources consulted.
2.2.2 Potential Ground Water Contamination Issues
A discussion of issues related to potential groundwater contamination is included in Section 1.4.2.
2.2.3 Current and Future On-Site Ground Water Uses
An existing domestic groundwater supply well will provide drinking water for the proposed
development.
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 13
