KLEINFELD, ER
An emplowy owml compam•
File No. 20-2080-19. G01
February 4, 2002
Mr. Charles Ferrell
F & H Construction
4945 E. Waterloo Road
Stockton, CA 95215
Subject: SOILS SUITABILITY STUDY
OFFICE/WAREHOUSE
KRUGER FOODS, INC.
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
Dear Mr. Ferrell:
Kleinfelder is pleased to present the results of our soil suitability and nitrate loading study for the
proposed office/warehouse to be constructed at the Kruger Foods, Inc. facility located at 17750
E. Highway 4 in Stockton, California. The purpose of our study was to determine the suitability
of the 33-acre site for septic tank usage in general accordance with the requirements of Section
9-10100© of San Joaquin County Ordinance. The following includes background information
regarding the proposed facility, present use of the site, and historical groundwater depths in the
project area. In addition, discussions regarding our investigative procedures, the site conditions
encountered during our field exploration, and the results of percolation tests are presented.
Finally, the results of our nitrate loading calculations, drainage basin recommendations, and
project limitations are provided.
PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT
On a preliminary basis, we understand that the proposed building will include a 46,467 square-
foot production area, a 53,533 square-foot, dock-high warehouse area, and an attached 7,500
square-foot office area. Appurtenant construction will include paved parking and driveways,
loading docks, various concrete flatwork, and buried utilities. Grading plans were not available at
the time this report was prepared. However, as site topography is essentially level, cuts and fills
during earthwork are anticipated to be minimal (3 feet or less in vertical extent) and limited to
providing vehicular access and level building pads with positive site drainage.
We anticipate that waste disposal for the office/warehouse building will be provided by an
individual on-site sewage disposal system consisting of a conventional 2,000-gallon septic tank
and leach trench disposal field. We anticipate that shallow leach trenches will be used for
disposal of effluent. The number of employees is expected to vary from a low of 35 to a high of
60, depending on the season.
20-2080-19.GOI/2002R083 February 4,2002
©2002 Kleinfelder,Inc.
