KLEIN FELDER
Chico Urban Area, Page 6, Dames and Moore, April 1996)
Our calculation is as follows:
NC = 0,18(2)(35)(1 -0.35) + 8.78(0.5) = 8.19 + 4.39 = 1.38 mg/1 as N
0.18(2)+8.78 0.36 + 8.78
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the above evaluation, the wastewater produced by the proposed development should
not cause the nitrate levels in groundwater below the site to rise above the state standards.
Furthermore, the results of our percolation tests indicate that a conventional septic tank/leach
trench sewage disposal system should adequately service the development.
One of the factors that is required by the SJCPHS is to determine the existing value of nitrate and
1,2-Dibromo-3-chloropropane (DBCP) in the groundwater below the site. A groundwater
sample was obtained for the existing on-site well using "clean" methods. The pump for the
irrigation well was turned on for a period of approximately 5 minutes prior to obtaining our
sample. The water sample was submitted to Sequoia Analytical Laboratories, Inc. using chain-
of-custody procedures to evaluate nitrate as N in accordance with EPA Test Method 300 and
DBCP in accordance with EPA Test Method 504.1. Results of the tests show a nitrate as N
concentration of 5.8 mg/1 and a non-detectable concentration of DBCP. A copy of our test
results and chain of custody are attached.
LIMITATIONS
The conclusions of this report are based on the information provided regarding the existing and
proposed facility and on the site conditions. It was assumed that the percolation test results are
representative of the subsurface conditions in the general area. Our work was performed in
general accordance with the standard of care that exists in San Joaquin County. No other
guarantee or warranty, expressed or implied is made.
We appreciate the opportunity to provide our service on this project.
