Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage Existing Septic System One septic system is currently located on the Site to serve the existing house (Plate 3). Proposed Septic System A new septic system will be constructed to serve the new house. On-Site Septic Permit History The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were searched for the Site address. One permit was identified. The permit, dated March 1985, was for the installation of a new residential septic system. The system utilized a 1,500-gallon septic tank, three 40-foot leach lines, and three 4- by 12- by 12-foot deep sumps. The permit has been included in Appendix 4 of this report. Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 45 septic systems per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. The area surrounding the Site primarily consists of orchards and rural residential lots. Septic Permit History in the Vicinity Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach lines and sumps up to 12 feet deep; two systems utilize leach lines only. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report. Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the existing and proposed residences. Septic system design should be based on the San Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems Standards (2017) or other engineering recommendations. LOGE 1945 Page 2
