The purpose of this letter is to request that
the Planning Commission hearing on the above-referenced applications be continued from the
currently scheduled date of January 6, 2005 for a period of at least 30 days to allow us adequate
time to prepare. The specific reasons for this request are:
1. We received a copy of the Initial Study (environmental).prepared by staff on
December 16, 2004,(however, it bears a December 9, 2004 date). We have determined that this
study may be incomplete and may contain various inaccuracies all of which need to be addressed
in detail. There will be insufficient time for us to do this prior to the currently scheduled
meeting.
2. Several among our membership have from time to time been in contact with
Community Development staff and feel that they had received assurances that the bearing would
be postponed due to the shortness of time between the issuance of the study and the hearing date.
3. Notification of these applications, the investigation process and the Initial Study have
all occurred during the holiday season during which time, of course, all of us who have
opposition to the applications are distracted with all that this season otherwise demands. It will
probably not surprise you that many in .our area have the suspicion that the applicants have
deliberately manipulated the scheduling in this way so as obtain unfair advantage.
4. Some among us will be out of town on the date currently set due to other long made
and unavoidable commitments.
