5.1 Hazardous Substances i onnection with Identified Uses
• Asbestos-containing materials (ACM)
None- vacant land.
• Urea formaldehyde foam insulation
None - vacant land.
• Facility storage tanks
None—vacant land.
• Radon gas
A radon survey was not conducted at the Site. Radon occurs naturally and
randomly in geographic settings. The California Department of Health
Services(CDHS)conducted a statewide radon survey during 1990-1991 that
entailed testing for radon in homes in designated geographic areas. The Site
is in the San Joaquin County and according to this survey Radon
concentrations detected averaged less than 2.2 pico Curies per liter. This
compares favorably to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) safety
standard for radon gas in residences of 4.0 pico Curies per liter and the United
States National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements(NCRP)
standard of 8.0 pico Curies per liter. Radon is not considered an issue for the
Site.
• Transformers or other electrical equipment that uses dielectric fluid
None—vacant land.
5.2 Hazardous Substance Containers and Unidentified Substance Containers
• The site was found to be neat and clean with no evidence of containers or
spills.
5.3 Indications of PCB's
• As noted in 5.1 above.
5.4 Indications of Solid Waste Disposal
• The general appearance of the site was good and no solid waste items were
noted.
5.5 Storm Water Drainage
• Storm water from this site currently remains on the site. There is no
indication of any hazardous materials having been drained or spilled.
7
