Soil Suitability/ Nitrate Loading Study Irerracon
Buddhist Temple Proposed Dormitory ■ Stockton, California
July 11, 2019 ■ Terracon Project No. NA177056
Based on the historical information, the past agricultural land use and septic systems on the site
and in the area should be considered potential groundwater contamination sources. Refer to
Section 1.3.2 for further discussion for information regarding the site groundwater well.
1.4.3 Water Sample Location
-On May 9, 2019, two groundwater samples (GW-1_and GW_-2_)were collected from a faucet near
the eastern storage container along the northern site boundary and submitted on ice to
McCampbell Analytical Inc. for analysis. Sample GW-1 was collected into a clean unpreserved
plastic 125 milliliter (ml) bottle and analyzed for nitrate as N by EPA Extraction Method E300.1.
Sample GW-2 was collected into two clean glass 40 ml VOAs preserved with ascorbic and meleic
acid and analyzed for DBCP (1,2-Dibromo-3-chloropropane) by EPA Extraction Method E524.3.
Nitrate as N was reported at 27 mg/L in groundwater sample GW-1 above the MCL of 10 mg/L-N
or 120 mg/L nitrate above the MCL of 45 mg/L nitrate. Groundwater sample GW-2 reported below
laboratory reporting limits of 0.010 micrograms per liter (ug/L)for DBCP.
1.4.4 Groundwater Sample Analysis
Refer to Section 1.4.3.
1.4.5 Groundwater Sample Handling
Refer to Section 1.4.3.
1.5 General Geologic Information and Soil Profile
The site is depicted on the Geologic Map of California 2010, as within generalized quaternary
Pleistocene and Holocene deposits which are comprised primarily of alluvium, lake, playa, and
terrace deposits; unconsolidated and semi-consolidated.
Based on a review the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources
Conservation Service (NRCS)Web Soil Survey, site soils consist of Devries sandy loam. Devries
sandy loam soils consist of somewhat poorly drained soils with 0 to 2 percent slopes. Parent
material consists of coarse-loamy alluvium derived from igneous metamorphic and sedimentary
rock. Refer to Section 1.5.3 and Section 2.1.2 for additional information.
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■Reliable 10
