SITE BACKGROUND
• Three Underground Storage Tanks (USTs) were removed from the same excavation in 1986 - one 1000-
gallon gasoline tank, one 550-gallon petroleum solvent tank and one 550-gallon diesel tank
• The native material at the bottom of the tankpit was sampled; maximum concentrations detected were
26,000 ppm TPH as diesel
8s - MW-A
• Subsequent soil borings drilled around the excavation yielded concentrations of TPH as gasoline and
TPH as diesel to a depth of 70 feet below ground surface (bgs)
• The highest TPH concentrations were observed 10 feet north of the tank pit at a depth of 15 feet bgs
• TPH as diesel has not been confirmed in groundwater. A groundwater sample collected from MW-6 in
April 1994 yielded anomalous levels of TPH as diesel. When sampled in July 1994, NON-DETECT levels
were observed
• The extent of contamination was estimated to extend approximately 35 feet from the tank pit.
(Remediation Services, 1993)
VFi1111694 CAP 2
