It is not anticipated that pneumatic or hydraulic tools will be used on this project, however, in <br /> the event that such equipment is required, personnel shall review both lockout/tagout <br />' procedures and proper tool use in Tailgate Safety Meetings Personnel required to operate <br /> high-impact repetitive motion equipment such as jackhammers will be reminded to wear <br />' heavy gloves and take frequent breaks from such activities (i e , at least ten minutes each <br /> hour) <br />' 4.2-61 Use of Ladders <br /> The following rules apply to all ladders used on the project <br /> Safe Ladder Design <br />' 0 Rungs must be spaced 12 inches apart vertically <br /> • Width of ladder must not be less than 15 inches nor more than 20 inches <br /> • Step ladders must not exceed 20 feet in length (Use of such ladders taller than <br /> 12 feet is not anticipated.) <br /> • Cleat ladders must not exceed 30 feet in length Double cleat ladders are <br /> required for two-way traffic or when used by 25 or more employees <br />' • Extension ladders shall not exceed 44 feet in length (Such lengths are also not <br /> anticipated.) <br /> • The overlapping section of extension ladders shall not be less than 10 percent of <br /> the working length <br /> • All ladders must have a warning sign prohibiting standing on the top step. <br /> Safe Ladder Use <br /> • Do not stand on the top 3 rungs of ladders unless you are protected by a safety <br /> belt <br /> • Remove damaged ladders from use <br /> • Do not place ladders where they can be accidently struck or displaced. <br /> • Secure ladders in use against displacement <br /> M7/11-29-94/RHS/1-IASP/94-0037 JAF 4-10 <br />
