combustibility, toxicity, and oxygen content will, be conducted <br /> to determine the atmospheric <br /> class and subsequent protection level required In addition, personnel entering the confined <br /> space must have completed training specifically for confined space entry <br /> ' 4.2.8 Hearing Conservation Program <br /> All on-site IT and subcontractor personnel shall wear hearing protection, with a Noise <br /> 1 Reduction Rating (NRR) of at least 25, when noise levels exceed 85 dBA (or wherever voices <br /> must be raised in order to be understood at arms length) All site personnel who may be <br /> exposed to noise shall receive baseline and annual audiograms and training as to the causes <br /> and prevention of hearing loss, in accordance with IT Procedure HS402 <br /> Whenever possible, equipment that does not generate excessive noise levels will be selected <br /> for this project If the use of noisy equipment is unavoidable, wherever possible, barriers or <br /> increased distance will be used to minimize worker exposure to noise <br /> 4.2.9 Heat and Cold Stress Prevention <br /> Heat stress is not anticipated to be a concern due to the moderate climate of the site during <br /> late fall and early winter In the event that ambient air temperatures exceed 85`F, measures <br /> will be taken in preventing heat stress, including <br />' Site workers will be encouraged to drink plenty of water throughout the day <br /> They will be advised to slightly increase their salt intake by lightly salting their <br />' food <br /> • On-site drinking water will be kept cool to encourage personnel to drink <br />' frequently <br /> • All personnel will be advised of the dangers and symptoms of heat stroke, heat <br />' exhaustion and heat cramps <br /> • All employees shall be unformed of the importance of adequate rest, acclimation <br /> and proper diet in the prevention of heat stress disorders <br /> One or more of the following control measures can be used to help control heat stress and are <br />' mandatory if any site worker has a heart rate (measured immediately prior to resteriod in <br /> P ) <br /> excess of 110 beats per minute. <br />' M7J11-29-94/RHSMASP/94-0037 JAF 4-12 <br /> 1 <br />
