PHS/EHD has a contract with
California State Water Resources Control Board to conduct an
underground storage '`tank corrective ' action program. The above
referenced site was placed in the PHS/EHD Local Oversight Program
(LOP) in January 1991 .
I
PHS/EHD has completed review of the report prepared by Resna dated
November 18 , 1993 titled Site Assessment Report . The report '
contains site assessment information that documents both soil and
groundwater contamination (gasoline and diesel) due to releases
from the underground"" storage tanks (UST) previously used -at your.
site .
On 01/22/87 three UST were removed. Soil samples were collected
from beneath the containers and analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbon.
Analytical results from soil samples taken under tank #2 and tank
#3 were above acceptable levels and further assessment was
performed. On 12/8-11/89 four soil borings were completed to
determine if contamination had moved ;laterally. Samples from• SB1
and SB2 evidenced thei, horizonal migration of petroleum hydrocarbon.
Due to the unacceptable concentrations in sample SBI-15 , three
groundwater monitoring well installations were completed on
5/01/91 . The soil samples analyzed in each boring at 65 . 5 feet
revealed toluene residuals and groundwater samples collected and
analyzed from the wells on 05/07/91 documented contamination above
acceptable concentrations in MW #1 and MW#2 .
i
Groundwater samples from MW #1 and MW #2 have shown intermittent
positive results for petroleum hydrocarbon from 05/07/91 through
08/23/93 with no two consecutive rounds non-detectable (N.D. ) in
all three wells . Due to the elevated soil contaminant
concentrations found in SB1 approximately 15 feet north of the
former tank location , also positive for petroleum hydrocarbon,. and
the groundwater contamination in MW .#2 and MW #3 located
A Division of San Joaquin Count} Health Care Set-vices
f
