summarized as follows - 1 There is a definite reduction in levels of contamination of all tested components since the March sampling event Since the hydraulic gradient has remained fairly consistent to the north, and the water table has risen less that 1 foot, natural attenua- tion may be occurring. 2 MW-2 & MW-3 appear to have defined the limits of contamina- tion to the south and east . The next monitoring event should verify that fact . 3 The extent of soil, and groundwater contamination have not been fully defined to the northwest . RECOMMENDATIONS : We had previously recommended that additional work be performed in order to fully define the limits of contamination. However, based on the results of this latest data, we do not believe that work should be done until the next monitoring event has been com- pleted and the results analyzed. If the levels continue to drop without any significant changes in water levels or gradient shift, it may be possible to confirm the dissolution of the contamination without a large expenditure of funds . Our client has not yet been reimbursed for monies spent to date, although the application has been accepted and a claim number assigned by the Cleanup Fund. Until they receive some funds to cover work done to date, we do not feel it 1s appropriate to proceed at this time. This site would appear to be classified as "low risk" based on it ' s location, the fact that groundwater is not suitable for any domestic use, and the noticeable decrease in levels of contamination. The results from next quarterly monitoring event should provide definitive data upon which to base additional work. That event is due in October; hopefully our client will have received some monies to cover costs spent to date.
